Album Review 1

Most of us like sunsets and beaches and vacations. A sunset on a beach during a vacation (what the English call holidays) is like all of those great things put together. Good music is like a sunset on a beach during a vacation. Music lets us escape are sick, sad and mostly boring life’s. It creates a delusion that a mostly harmless self-aware being living in mostly frightful, cold and dark chaotic cosmos has some sort of meaning or at very least importance. Scientifically compared the amount of zilch that occupies the universe we are zilch. What is this author talking about? Well the fact these rhythmic patterns can create a lie as sweet as music is amazing. I dig this delusion of the sunset on a beach during vacation the music provides.

Then there are those Artists that take you beyond this. They take you by the hand and lead you in to the breaking waves. The water is about waist deep, the tide is coming in, the orange sky will soon be pitch black and your not that a good swimming. Those Artists with strong grip on not only what is good but "will" be good. There are some of us that wont like this "new" and there is no fault there. Not every current is for every Man and Woman. Those that do get "swept" away are going in to waters like though's of Radio Head, Nirvana, Joy Division, Sex Pistils, Black Sabbath, Velvet Underground, and Chuck Berry. Those bands that where on the for front on some thing new.

In January 20, 2009 The Album “Merriweather Post Pavilion” from the band “Animal Collective” came out.

It may not be first of kind, or I am that applying going to bring people in this alt alt rock music scene. This album is tho sort of a flagship of what could come of music, though it just might disappear in to the deadly waters witch it came.

  1. Doesn't function so much as a review as it does applause, more about the album itself would be helpful

  2. I like that you took a different approach to your review. Instead of explaining the band members or their previous accomplishments you explained the feeling their sound gives the listener. Your writing is strong and very descriptive- but I felt you should have introduced the album you were describing sooner in the review. The connections between music and something desirable to the readers was interesting, but if the reader doesn’t quite know what is being described till close to the end it becomes confusing. There were a few grammatical errors, but besides that good review.

  3. I don't think this works as a short review, there are concepts here too large to tackle in a short review, I appreciated the approach though. This could work.

  4. The bad grammar makes it really hard to focus on the review. The ocean metaphor could use a little work and there wasn't enough about the album itself.

  5. This wasn't so much a critique as it was a case of excessive logorrhea with an existential twist and a mediocre vocabulary. Poor sentence structure and nausiating images plagued this attempted review; fortunately the piece lacked integrity to compromise.
